Therapy can be a rich and powerful experience of growth and change. Each of us encounters painful loss, interpersonal conflict, and feelings of sadness, guilt, and shame. Finding a safe place to explore these pervasive human feelings is a step towards reaching better emotional health. We find an opportunity to know ourselves more intimately, and in turn, find greater fulfillment in the world around us.

Adults

Therapy can support clients as they gain insight into themselves and the world around them. I collaborate with my clients working through current issues or past experiences and explore underlying issues that create feelings of anxiety, sadness, or stuckness. Clients learn to establish better coping skills and healthier thought processes as we look to uncover the obstacles keeping you from moving forward in daily life.

Adolescents

Young adults begin a journey of growth and significant change during this tumultuous part of their lives. It is time to begin the process of individuation, and that can bring conflict, insecurity, and often confusion with the desire to achieve a sense of self. This process affects all members of one's family - and beyond. What do we make of all of these changes in our bodies, our feelings, our relationships? What if we are unsure of our gender or sexuality? How do we feel about the way we talk or look? With whom do we share our thoughts on substance use or bullying? Our ever-changing places within our families and in the world at large?

Therapy can be a safe space in which to sort out the myriad of emotions that come with these personal demands without judgement or bias. A therapist is not part of your everyday life in the world, and this time is yours alone to speak, think, and feel freely. It is a place just for you.

Families

Family therapy can be a safe, supportive environment to nurture change and development while improving communication and resolving conflicts. Life transitions, death, divorce, parenting often take tremendous tolls on families. When I work with adults or teens, we may decide that family sessions would be beneficial to supplement individual therapy and provide a cohesive support structure to the entire affected group. Families coming in for therapy can gain insight into their patterns of interaction and create more harmonious means of addressing issues.

Couples

Couples face increasingly challenging issues in today's climate. Counseling can help foster better communication in working through differences. Each of us has a unique style of attachment and intimacy, ideas about love, parenting, finances, and values. Together we can find a middle ground and work towards feelings of harmony and contentment in relationships. All orientations welcome.
